My name is Captain Rob Mazzei, is was born is Astoria, Queens, NY and I am a retired NYPD officer. I have been fishing the waters of Long Island and Montauk since I was a child. I caught my first fish when I was three and a half years old at Flushing Meadow Park, a Blue Gill. Needless to say I was hooked and my life has revolved around fishing ever since then.
I grew up in Bayside and lived a long distance cast away from Little Neck Bay. Summertime I could be found fishing the shoreline along the Cross Island Parkway, at the old Nichols Marina or around the rocks at Fort Totten. I caught my first Striped Bass at what is now the Bayside Marina on a white bucktail when I was six years old. Every Summer my family would head down east to "The Point" for a week or two. It was always an incredible experience that left a long lasting impression on my life.
More Drama
In 1994, I moved to South Florida to fish 12 months a year and pursue a life-long dream of becoming a boat captain and running my own fishing charter boat and guide service.
Dreams do come true!
In 1999, I started Sail King Fishing Charters, out of Jupiter, Florida, fishing for inshore and offshore sport fish such as Sailfish and Tarpon. Over the eight years my business have been very successful, I have developed a strong client base, and in a highly competitive market I have done well and earned the respect of other local fishing guides and charter captains.
Most years during Hurricane season in Florida I'd return to the scene of the crime around September to surf fish the "Fall Run" in Montauk for several weeks. My hard work, dedication and passion for fishing has enabled me revisit the place that a fisherman's dreams are made of, Montauk Point! I hope to see you there.
